Students today live in an on demand, technology dependent world. They learn differently and approach schoolwork differently than students did even a few years ago. This defiantly affects learning. As we enter this new digital world, excellence in education requires that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. Increasing access to technology is essential for that future, and the learning tool of these students is the laptop computer. The individual use of laptops is a way to empower students to learn at their full potential and to prepare them for the real world that lies ahead. Laptops encourage students to solve problems and think critically by stimulating analytical thinking. Learning results from the continuous dynamic interaction among students, educators, parents and the extended community. Technology immersion does not diminish the vital role of the teacher; it transforms the teacher from a director of learning to a facilitator of learning. AISD laptop program integrates technology into the curriculum anytime, anywhere for our students.
The keys to our program will focus around the enhancement of student learning and aligning our technology policies and instructional policies into one. Technology and technology-empowered students are here to stay. Alvarado ISD wants to capitalize on young people's affinity for technology and engage those students in learning in a more relevant way in a world that is becoming increasingly technology driven.
Currently all students in grades 4 - 8 have the use of a device of their own. Students in grades 4-6 have use of the device solely at school, where students in grades 7 - 8 take the devices home with them each day." (source)...
